Embrace the mini breakthroughs
My Thought for the Week 💭
When working towards something it’s not uncommon to look forward to the big breakthrough that will eventually come.
Last year when I started my podcast I was super pumped up and ecstatic to share my new episodes with the world and hit 500+ downloads per episode within a few short months.
I still haven’t hit that goal yet. Mainly due to specific reasons I’m working through currently but that’s an entirely different story!
Instead of cherishing the mini breakthroughs of people sending me thoughtful DMs about my show, having people share on social media, and many other amazing moments: I was way too focused on hitting this really big goal and was upset with myself because I didn’t.
Trust me, it’s good to embrace the mini breakthroughs and wins that happen throughout the journey.
There will be less pressure put on you and it’s just easier to enjoy what you’re doing because you’re always winning.
Hope you have a great weekend,
Miko
Tricks and Tips Learned💡
Niche down or not to niche down 🤔
In a previous issue of the newsletter I probably mentioned that it’d be best to niche down.
Though after everything I’ve learned and experienced in the last month or so…I’d argue that it depends on your content medium (i.e. podcast) and your content bucket types (i.e. productivity).
For example, one of my favorite YouTubers Ali Abdaal has diverse content on his channel including productivity, investing and finance, and more.
Similarly to that of the Techish podcast in which the hosts talk about the tech industry and pop culture. These two content creator types aren’t exactly niched down to one specific topic, yet what they’re doing works and people love it.
Now on the other side of things, there are those that strive to solve specific problems for specific people and are niched down to the core.
Think Media works to help new YouTubers start and grow a channel, and the Earn Your Leisure podcast specifically aims to give any and all financial literacy advice.
Whether you decide to niche down or not, experiment in the beginning.
See what’s really sticking with your audience and decide what you want to do from there. It took the above content creators years to figure all of this out, so go at your own pace.
Creator Quote of the Week 🗣️
"I have to constantly remind myself it’s ok to not be part of the rat race
👉 Find your pace
👉 Be kind to yourself
👉 Stay in your lane"
Being a part of the rat race goes beyond working a traditional 9-5 job.
I believe that it can be generalized to following what everyone else is doing (even in the content world) and trying to consistently keep up at a rapid pace.
Understand that everyone is on their own timeline with…basically anything in life.
Once you find the pace that’s comfortable for you, keep at it and be nice to yourself along the way. You will make it to where you want to be eventually.
