My Thought for the Week 💭
I once thought of Black Friday as a day where I could just spend to my heart’s desire on a bunch of things I wanted but knew deep down that I didn’t need them.
Now? I only spend on the best gaming deals of the year.
Other than that I’ve found it to be on the worst capitalist “holidays” out there. At least until I discovered how creators were taking advantage of it.
I discovered that tons of creators have made a good amount of money over the last year.
Whether through selling products on Gumroad such as Ev has, or by monetizing a newsletter with affiliate marketing and ad spots like Dylan (Growth Currency).
Seeing such success stories happen throughout the year and even specifically on Black Friday inspires me to figure out what income streams are available to me and how I can consistently grow them.
Although being a creator isn’t the get rich quick scheme that some would hope for, it’s still satisfying work that can bring many opportunities in the long run, especially monetary ones.
With passion and intentionality comes money and eventual success.
Wishing you a great weekend,
Miko

How to make your first dollar on the internet 🤑
Making money online can be intimidating given the thoughts that might be racing through your head:
What if nobody buys it?
I’m not an expert in this subject, why even try.
I have no idea how to even get started.
With time, experimentation, and consistency at improving whatever you’re trying to sell, all of these questions can be dispelled.
It is possible to make money online without being an expert or a starting blueprint.
Here are some of the ways to make money online (excluding ads):
Sell a course or e-book
Offer up your services to others (aka freelance)
Provide exclusive content in addition to your free content
Affiliate marketing
There are many other ways to make money online that I haven’t even listed because the opportunities are endless! Here’s a link to an article that lists out more ways.
Or if you’re a more visual person here’s a link to this Think Media video outlining all the ways that they make money as a YouTube channel.
Creator Quote of the Week 🗣️
“What seems overwhelming to you right now will be a breeze one year from now. It doesn’t get easier, you just get better.”
There are a lot of skills out there to learn as a creator.
As a podcaster I’ve had to learn the following:
How to reach out to guests
How to create interesting interview questions
How to build upon a conversation without getting nervous
As a YouTuber on the other hand:
Figuring out what makes a good title
Adding onto that: what makes a clickable thumbnail
Writing videos that keep people watching
And the list goes on for both of these professions. Even though I still struggle with a lot of the things mentioned, but it’s gotten a little bit easier over time because I am constantly improving.
So yes it sucks to have to learn that new editing software or switch to a platform that’s foreign to you than previously…but you will get better if you stick with it.

This tweet on gradually scaling income
When I first started freelancing a little while ago I set my small goals.
For my first 1-2 clients my services would be $30 per video script. Then I scaled up to $60, and then even up to $120 per video script.
For the few months I had been doing this I averaged around ~$300 a month worth of income.
Although I no longer do freelance writing for video scripts, at the time I did have a vision in which I could scale up to $1k within a few more months, and $5k by next year.
Start small, prove your concept, learn, and scale.
